That Time of Year Again
It’s that time of year again where we reflect on the past 12 months. So much has changed, and yet so much remains the same.
I have been thinking about what 2020 has meant to me, all that it has included (and excluded!). I think back to all that I wanted it to be, and instead, all that it became in the face of a global pandemic. All that I had hoped to accomplish, and instead all the things I DID accomplish.
2020 was a full year! Yes, it was different than any of us imagined, but it was full of love, learning, and changes too!
With that being said, I am REALLY looking forward to 2021. I am really looking forward to waving goodbye to Covid-19. I am ready to get back to traveling and seeing people, hugging, and shaking a person’s hand. I want to see a stranger smile. I want to go out to eat. I want to ditch the ridiculous masks and have people stop asking me if I have any symptoms. I am so very, very ready for all of that.
So I’m putting an extra measure of thought into my New Year’s resolutions for the coming year. Revisiting those that I couldn’t accomplish from this year, and re-thinking how 2020 made some things that I took for granted seem so important. Not to mention how 2020 made some of my previous year’s resolutions seem so shallow. 2020 brought certain things into focus and presented contrast on others–I am uniquely thankful for that, and hope to hold onto these lessons for the remainder of my days.
Have you put any thought into what you want for next year? What are your goals? Dreams? Aspirations?
