If ever there was a time to start over, this is mine.
Welcome to She’s Moving Mountains. If you’ve visited before, you know that this blog used to look much different, it had a different type of content, it felt different than it does now. I’m glad you’re back to see the changes, and hope you take some time to look around and get cozy, sign up for the newsletter, and join me on this journey.
If this is your first visit, thank you for being here. Welcome to the beginning of the new and improved blog. It means so much to have others on this journey with me. If you’d like to know more about me you can visit the About Me page.
My Reasons For Starting Fresh
First and foremost, I wasn’t happy with the direction I had taken the blog. I had read too many books, listened to too many podcasts, watched too many YouTube videos about “successful blogging” and how others might determine “success” just didn’t make me happy, didn’t motivate me to write, and really made me avoid writing altogether. If you’ve been down this road you know that every last expert tells you that you have to choose a niche. Choose a niche! Choose. A. Niche. CHOOSE A NICHE! Anyone who knows me in real life, knows I’m not a “niche” person. Even a simple conversation with me can go from subject A, to B, to C without missing a beat (and likely without even pausing to take a breath!) I seriously niche-d myself into a corner, and that brings with it writer’s block, procrastination, and avoidance.
Second, some recent health scares and dealing with them has really made me see things differently. I’m looking at my whole life differently. So, it’s making me reevaluate what I want IN my life and OUT of my life, too. It makes you take a hard look at what makes you happy, what doesn’t, and everything in between.
Which leads to my third reason: this was always meant to be my happy place. I always intended for this to be a place to share my journey, my art, my quirky and dark sense of humor, my ups and downs, my struggles and my successes, and all my swearing (omg. so. much. swearing.). When I created this blog I wanted to share my mountains, and how I move them or attempt to move them.
So, I’m moving the mountain that this blog had become. Deleted ALL old content. Ditched the theme, dumped the color scheme, and broke up with a tagline that just didn’t fit anymore. I have to say, permanently deleting all that work sure was hard, but it felt absolutely necessary.
Starting fresh. Starting today.
