I have a secret.
I love this time of the year. By the end of summer vacation, I am MORE than ready to send the kids back to school–especially the big ones with their attitudes. Please tell me that I am not the only mom who feels this way! I understand it’s not PC to say, or even think, that you want a break from your kids, but I did. And I am definitely ready for days full of silence, and evenings full of talking about their day and their friends and whatever else they like to talk about this year.
They go back in 16 days. Yes, I’m counting down.
My stepson will be a senior, and this will be the last year of football for him. My oldest daughter will be a freshman. Baby girl will be in 2nd grade. What a whirlwind!
Besides school starting, August is time for harvest and canning and all the good parts of the fall to get underway or at the very least, we start preparing for them. There won’t be much canning or harvesting this year as my garden is a flop this year. I don’t know why and I’m not going to bother myself with trying to wonder why I have hardly any tomatoes and the plants are so small. I have other things to focus on and there are lots of people out there willing to fill baskets upon baskets with vegetables from their gardens for me, for free! LOL
I do believe that we will get a nice crop of green beans out of the garden today though–so I should go collect them all before it gets too hot!
I hope that everyone is having a productive and blessed day!
